I'm afraid it happened.... our office was shut down and we all were told today that we were being let go. I have cried a few times and continue to be very sad that I will no longer be around my second family at Novastar, but I am trying to have faith that everything will work out for the best. Novastar was the longest job I have ever held (five years) and the friends I have made there will be sorely missed. I am a little dumbfounded at what to do next, but I will try to figure all that out in the next few weeks. Thank you to everyone for your sweet comments before while I shared my worries with you.
On a happier note... I received two new items today. They are CollageScape photo frames by Debbie Overton. Debbie is an amazing artist who I met through blogging a few months back. She creates her frames with original and reproduction circa 1800 and early 1900 ephemera and other decorative papers. Each piece is one of a kind and meticulously embellished. All sides (including the back) are decorated and signed by the artist. Each CollageScape is created on a chunky 8x10x2" wood block.
These frames are amazing and I am very excited to be carrying Debbie's line. I will have them in the store by tomorrow for anyone who is interested in them, they are priced at $80 each.

I am so sorry you were laid off! But know everything WILL work out. Things will change, yes, but you will be okay. You are in my thoughts.

I've been a lurking around here for the past few months. Love your style and enjoy your site.
We've been through our share of employment worries lately ourselves. Always remember, when one door closes another one opens, you will be fine, just have faith!

I am 41 and have had so many "bumps" in the road.Giving up my buisness to take of my Mom who has cancer..you never know what tomorrow will bring..BUT! I do feel this for you...it is going to lead to good things..this may allow you to follow a passion full time...or take the time to find your nich...one door has closed...but your future is behind the one door that will be opening...yes, its scary....but any kind of change is...think positive there is no room for any kind of other thoughts! You re going to be fine!...really!

I am sorry to hear of your job loss. Life can throw you a curve ball sometimes. My business depends a lot on the nation's largest lender so I'm also concerned. Take care and try not to worry!

So sorry Sara!!
I know these things happen for a reason, even if we don't know what the reason is just yet.
Those frames are really amazing.
Try to have a nice weekend, and think good thoughts.

oh--i'm SO excited for you! i know that may be a little different perspective than many would see it from...but it's true. you are freed now from a committment that will in turn allow you the peace to truly follow a dream that you have. i just got back from a conference where one quote just continuously rings through my head. (my husband is going through the exact same thing right now.)
"the dream wouldn't have been put inside of you if you weren't able to acheive it."

wishing you your dreams!! =)
