friendship

Rose_2

I just wanted to say thank you to each and everyone of you who have come by to visit me over this last year in blogland. I truly appreciate the "friendship" we all share. Your comments over the year and especially these last two posts have meant the world to me, and all of you have made this exciting event even more fantastic for me by being so supportive!

I love that some of you told me that when you saw the article you ran to your hubby's and shouted "I know her!" Because I do the exact same thing when I see my blog friends in a magazine! You are my friends and without you, none of this would have ever happened to me! You truly all helped my dreams come true!

This rose is for you, my sweet friends!

Romantic Homes

I finally received a copy of the March 2008 issue of Romantic Homes and got to see my feature. I feel like I am the LAST person to see it, but it was worth the wait. :)

As promised here are the pages from the article:

Page1

I just love the title! So cute! Jacqueline did such a good job with everything. This page has a few of my favorite linens from the bedroom. The ticking quilt is from Pottery Barn, the Grainsack pillow I made myself (thank goodness it was the right size and only required a very crude stitch by me), and the number pillows are from Catherine at Red Shoes LC.  She makes these beauties herself!

I'm so happy Hannah made it in the issue. :) She wasn't being very cooperative that day! Keys and silver pedestal plates from Pottery Barn. Rug from Restoration Hardware.

Page5

This hutch is from the Long Beach Antique Fair, and the print above is from Ballard Designs. Tall vases from Pottery Barn, flowers from Restoration Hardware. The crystal light is from Regalo in San Juan Capistrano, CA.

Page6

The hutch is from the Long Beach Antique Fair again, the bunnies from Blessings in Orange, CA. The tin, planter, and orange stool are from antique shopping and the bobbins are from the gals at the Barn Sale "La Maison Rustique" in Temecula.

Page7

The table my mom gave me. The chair and crown molding shelves are from Pottery barn.

Page8

The little peat pot baby on the bottom left is made by Lauren.

Page9

I don't totally care for that picture of me, but I think we are all very critical of ourselves. I think my arms look fat, and I look awkward like I am trying to hold really still (which I was!)

Page10

White stools, dining room table and chairs all from Pottery barn. Tablecloth from Anthropolgie. Black and white ticking cushions from Sturbridge Yankee. The chalkboard was from Heather at the Barn sale again in Temecula.

Whew! can you believe ten pages! I can't! What's even more fun is quite a few of the pictures in the rest of the magazine were shot at my house. :) I love this issue because it's so fun to say I watched them create a lot of the shots!

Thank you all for your kind comments! I am loving every bit of my mini-fame!

Some Fun News

Dearest blog friends, I am so excited to tell you all that my home is featured in the March 2008 issue of Romantic Homes! When I found out they were coming to photograph my house, and then which issue it would be in, I couldn't contain my happiness! This is like a dream come true for me. If you all only knew how ordinary my life is sometimes, with a messy house, and me (unshowered half the time) in front of my computer all day....  This is very surreal to me.

I could hardly control myself these last few weeks wanting to shout about it from the rooftops and tell all of you! I haven't even seen the issue yet or the pictures they took, so I am so envious of you east coast ladies who get to see it before me. I was shocked this morning to wake up and already have messages from those of you who have seen it.

I feel so fortune to have this honor. I really do feel I owe it all to you (my blog friends), and most importantly Tara, who submitted the photos of my home to the editor for consideration. Thank you Tara!

(Lol... that reads like an acceptance speech, you would think I won an Oscar or something!) I do apologize if this is coming off as vain or self indulgent, but this is truly the most exciting this that has ever happened to me, and I have to share it with the world!

I promise to add some photos to this post just as soon as I get my issue!

By the way, I am aware that they spelled my name wrong. Jacqueline (the editor) promised to make it up to me.

a day of rest

Twblog2

Sunday is my day of rest. I usually dabble a little on the computer if I feel up to it, and maybe finish one or two items on my "to do" list... but for the most part, Sunday is a day for me. I am way behind on my site update and am too pooped to care today.

My day went a little something like this.... wake up, check emails, take a shower, go to breakfast with Josh (jalapeno bagel with cream cheese and a decaf soy latte from Starbucks), come home, work on a few to do list items, play outside with Hannah in the sun, take a few pictures with my new lens for the shop (and for this post), weed the garden, plant some bulbs (my first attempt at this, and I know I am a little late for my "climate zone"...), call and invite my sister and her hubby over for dinner, play on the computer some more.... eat some oreos... (and now here I am). :) It's 3:30 and I still have a few hours of sunlight left.

It's been a pretty boring day so far, but I am loving being able to relax and unwind. Although I am really sore from all the squatting in the garden (that's how out of shape I am)....lol... pathetic, isn't it?

I'm dying to get out and do some shopping, I am wanting to change my house a little for the new season.... but money is tight and with Josh's birthday next week, I have to save all my pennies for his birthday dinner. (He wants to go to a French restaurant near us called "French 75"). I haven't been before, so I'm looking forward to it. I did try escargot when I was in Paris on my honeymoon, and it was actually amazingly good (It was an appetizer they served cold with crackers and a spring mix with dressing of some sort...very fresh and light tasting. You really didn't notice the snail texture when it was prepared and eaten this way). I don't know if I would have been brave enough if it was just the snail on it's own. Although I do like oysters, and I do chew them when I eat them, so maybe I would??? I also tried frog legs when I was in jr. high school. I was in the "French Club" and we went on a field trip to a French restaurant in Costa Mesa (yes, I was a nerd then too).

I will be sure to report on the restaurant next week after we go. I am looking forward to trying something new. I hope they have chocolate souffle for dessert (that has been my favorite dessert lately, and I haven't had it in awhile.)

I trust your Sunday is as lazy and uneventful as mine. Enjoy the day and put your "to do" lists on hold until tomorrow!

a new look for 2008

Bloghand

Now that I am designing sites and graphics for other people more and more, my excitement about my own site starts to fade. I like to change things up and keep them interesting every now and then. This newest site overhaul has been the largest project I have tackled yet. So large in fact, that I did not meet my 2008 deadline.

I have been excited about this new look for months, and decided to partially release it, while I still work out the kinks with the "boutique" end of things.

One of the things I love most about the new site, is that I get to update pictures on each of the main pages whenever I want. I love photography and am trying to get better and better at it, so this gives me a place to showcase some of my favorite shots. (A place aside from my blog, that is). I even have pictures of my home on the "about us" page that are fun to change out as I redecorate and change styles. (Teaser....) ....I have a fun little secret that I can't wait to share next month!.... maybe this post will give you a hint.... (.....End teaser). I just love to torture you gals with those teasers! :)

Anywho, please stop by the shop and drop me a note to tell me what you think of the new look. And if you are feeling like that Christmas money you received is burning a whole in your pocket, you can still shop the boutique from the old site while we are in transition.

Happy New Year!
