Shades of Inspiration

With the incredible success of the "I Saw Red" event, we have decided to continue playing this little photography challenge. The new event will be called "Shades of Inspiration" so that we can continue to change the color each week. I hope many of you will continue to play and find inspiration in each others photos.

In order to keep this event manageable, I will no longer be listing the group participants on this page, but you can share your photos and visit the other players through our flickr group. (Click on the large image above to be taken to the group page).

Flickr is a free service provided by Yahoo that allows you to upload your photos and share them online. It is also a great place to network and meet other bloggers who have similar interests. Much like a blog, you can comment on each others photos and leave encouragement for one another. If you do not have an account with flickr, you can sign up here: http://www.flickr.com/  The great part is this means you can play the game even if you don't have a blog!

I threw together this little button, if you want to post about it, or just add it to your blog to let people know you are playing and to try to get others to join in. Feel free to use it, or not! Fuschia Friday

Well today is the last day of the "I Saw Red" event. (Opps! No it's not! Sorry I just was informed my button says it's until the 8th! Sorry, please ignore my non-sense.) I hope you all enjoyed yourselves as much as I did. I tried as best I could to stay on top of things, and I hope I didn't disappoint any of you who I may not have visited or listed on the event page. This little thing spread like wild-fire and as much as it was to my delight, it was also a TON of work! Any-who, thank you everyone who played and who visited new friends and left them comments. Many of you playing were new to blogging and I hope that if anything, you found some new friends along the way.

I took some new photos yesterday and I have three to share today. I'm hoping they are good enough for the "grand finale".

Many of you took photos of cherries and made me crave them like crazy! These beauties were from my second bag of cherries this week. :) I love the color combo in this one.

This is a cute little Red Cross pin I bought at an antique store just because I liked it. It's tiny. I played with this photo in Photoshop and I love how it came out. Almost completely desaturated except for the red. 

This last one is in honor of the red roses that inspired our event. Sadly they are all passed on now... (Thanks to my kitty who likes to de-petal all of the roses in order to drink the water in the vase). I had to pick a new rose to get this shot. :)

I love that this event challenged and inspired me to post everyday this week! I am hoping I can keep up with this as much as possible. My camera and I will find new inspiration as often as we can. :)

Red Thursday

Well I admit, I am running low on red photos.... I'm going to have to get snapping so I will have something for tomorrow. But for today, I have this one to share. It incorporates a few of my favorite things... the pairing of black and white, bold graphics, and typography.

These are the French Playing Cards we have for sale in the shop. I love how they don't have numbers, just the bold graphics instead. I'm off to eat breakfast and get back to work. :) (Yes it's 11:00am and I haven't had breakfast, I'm starving!) Happy Thursday! 

Red Wednesday

Just one red photo to share today, but I promise there are more to come. I just didn't feel like this ladybug went with any of my other red pictures. She kind of needs to stand on her own. (Actually I think I learned once that the ladybugs with spots are the boys, aren't they?) Oh well.... he or she is pretty none the less... and perfect for our "I Saw Red" event.

I have been trying like crazy to stay on top of your comments and posts and flickr photos, so please be patient with me. (I am still trying to do design work in the meantime, so it's been a challenge). I love that I have met so many new friends with this challenge, I hope you all are visiting each other too, and finding new friends as well. :) Enjoy your Wednesday!  

Ruby Tuesday

I am so overwhelmed by your response to this little event! I love that you all are inspired and wanting to play along. I am frantically trying to stay on top of all the comments and update the participant list. If I have missed you, please let me know and I will add your blog to the list. You can join in at any time and don't feel obligated to post red everyday. This should be fun, not stressful! :) Please do forgive me if I don't make it to all of your blogs each day, but I do appreciate you playing!

I still have a few pictures of the roses in my garden I'd like to share, so I hope you aren't sick of my rose images yet.

This one has got to be a new favorite of mine. I just love the lighting and glow it seems to have.

Some of my red linens and a fun little French tin I purchased at a flea market. (It one of my favorite items in my home). Such fun color!

This one is similar to the first with the amazing light streaming through, but the linens add a little something here too.

I am having lots of fun with this red inspired week... I hope you are too. My sister Denise even wanted to play, so I created a blog for her to join in the fun! Pay her a visit and let her know how fun it is to blog, will you? She is an Americana lover and red is right up her alley. Her blog is Stars, Stripes, and Salsa.

Roses are Red

Yeah! It's June! I'm loving seeing all the "I Saw Red" pictures you have posted, I am so tickled that so many of you wanted to play! Thank you! You have inspired me so!

I know I mentioned picking some red roses from my garden, which inspired the event, and I wanted to share some of my favorite pictures from that set of photos...

I love that my vintage silverware props are glistening in the background in this one.

I love the mix of textures in this one.

I love my green flower frog and orange flowered stool in this color combo.

I just thought this one was fun. (You all know how I love typography!).

Red Bow

You know how Mom's always think their child is the most beautiful child in the world? And when they get new pictures of their babies, they beam with pride and can stare at them all day? Well that is how I feel about these next three pictures. :) In keeping with our "I Saw Red" theme week, I tied our "daughter" Hannah up in a red bow and starting snapping away. These three were my favorites and they make me smile every time I look at them.

If you only knew how insanely difficult Hannah is at cooperating in her photo shoots, you might just begin to appreciate how cute these turned out.

I could not get her to look at the camera for the life of me. Even with treats in hand, she would not "sit", "stay", or even "lay down" (all of which she knows how to do on command). Josh is behind her with the bag of treats trying to get her to listen, but with the camera on a tripod and a bag of treats in the room, there is no getting a chocolate lab to listen. :)

Isn't she precious? I'm such a proud Mom. :)
